Years in skiing: 16
Years on NDC: 1st

This Alannah’s first year with NDC and she is
getting settled in her new surroundings which includes studying
economics at Lakehead University. This member of Team Ontario at
the 2011 Canada Games has set an number of goals for the
upcoming season which include:
- qualifying for the Junior National Team
- qualifying for the World Juniors by the
age of 19
- placing in the top 5 aggregate at
Nationals
- improving my technique in classic and
skate so that I am a more efficient and effective racer
- and, falling less in sprint races!
Alannah, who credits coach Patti Kitler as her
source of inspiration, has been Sudbury’s House of Kin Female
Amateur Athlete of the Year 2010 and in 2011 she received the
prestigious Stacey Levitt Women and Sport Scholarship.
For someone who admits to not liking cross country skiing as a
youth Alannah looks forward to some day making the national team
and to ski in World Cup and World Championship races. She
continues to encourage youth and especially girls to cross
country ski.
A favourite quote of Alannah’s is Steve Prefontaine’s, “To give
anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift”.
