This Jack’s first year on NDC and he’s set a
number of goals for the 2011-12 season including:
- qualifying for the Junior World
Championships,
- qualifying for the Junior National Team,
- reaching the podium at the Canadian
National Championships,
- being in the top five aggregate finishers
at Canadian National Championships,
- and making the 2012-13 NDC team.
Beyond this season, Jack states, “I want to
have a long and prosperous career in the sport.” This includes
making the U-23 world championship team and then eventually
skiing for Canada on the world cup circuit and competing at the
Olympics and world championships.
A 2009 and 2010 Rotary sport awards cross country running
champion, Jack notes that it was a Kids of Steel Triathlon in
2004 that sparked his competitive spirit and since then he
hasn’t looked back.
Jack’s personal role models are Devon Kershaw and Alex Harvey
since he says “both of them are amazing skiers and have shown
that they can compete with the best in the world on any given
day. Their team sprint World Championship performance was so
inspirational and moving for me.”
